Skate 3 in Browser: How to Play the Fan Recreation
Skate 3 in the browser is the closest thing to the Radiant Optimizer post’s promise: a skateboarding game that runs in a tab with no downloads. A cleanroom fan recreation hosts it on GitHub Pages, runs on WebGPU, and supports keyboard, gamepad, and touch.
Play it now
Open the official project page: skate3-cleanroom on GitHub Pages. There is nothing to install — the game loads in your browser. If the screen stays black, jump to troubleshooting below; it is almost always a WebGPU issue.
Requirements
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Browser | Chrome or Edge 113+ (WebGPU). Check webgpureport.org if unsure. |
| Input | Keyboard, gamepad (plug in and press a button in-frame), or touch on mobile. |
| Hardware | Hardware-accelerated graphics; a discrete or recent integrated GPU is comfortable. |
| Install | None. No launcher, no account, no download. |
Controls and first session
- Start small: roll around the opening area, get a feel for steering and pumping before attempting tricks.
- Gamepad is the intended feel: the analogue sticks map naturally to steering and board tilt; keyboard is playable but stiffer.
- Touch works on phones for basics, though a larger screen makes lines much easier to hold.
Troubleshooting
- Black screen: your browser lacks WebGPU. Update Chrome or Edge to 113+, or enable hardware acceleration in settings, then reload.
- Low framerate: close other WebGL/WebGPU-heavy tabs and confirm “use graphics acceleration” is on.
- Gamepad not detected: click inside the game frame first, then press a button on the pad so the browser grants Gamepad API access.
Enabling WebGPU, browser by browser
- Chrome 113+: WebGPU is on by default on Windows and macOS. If the game still shows a black screen, open
chrome://flags, search “WebGPU”, set it to Enabled, and relaunch. - Edge 113+: same engine as Chrome — WebGPU ships enabled. Check
edge://gpuif hardware acceleration looks off, and make sure “Use graphics acceleration when available” is on in system settings. - Other browsers: support varies by platform and version. If WebGPU is missing, the game will not start — switch to current Chrome or Edge rather than fighting flags.
- Quick check: open
webgpureport.orgbefore playing; if it does not say your adapter was found, no WebGPU game will run.
Playing on phones and tablets
Touch input is supported, and mobile WebGPU is available on recent iOS and Android browsers, so the game can run on a modern phone. Practical expectations: on-screen steering covers cruising and basic lines; complex trick sticks are much easier with a controller, and phones warm up faster than PCs under sustained WebGPU load. For sessions longer than a few minutes, a clipped gamepad or desktop is the better tool.
Is it legal and safe?
This is a cleanroom project: written from scratch, without EA’s code, models, or textures, which is why it can be hosted openly on GitHub Pages. It is a fan recreation inspired by Skate 3 — expect the vibe and physics feel, not the original maps or career mode. Safety-wise it is a plain web page; the usual rule applies (nothing here requires a download — if a site offers you a “Skate 3 browser installer”, it is an impostor). More from the viral list
Skate 3 is the headline act, but the playable-now list also includes Minecraft Classic, the Quake builds, Half-Life, and Diablo — see the full Radiant Optimizer games list and the Black Ops in browser status if that was the game you came for.
